Ring design foundations
A ring is considered from every angle.
The centre stone may lead the eye, but profile, setting height, claws and band proportions decide how the ring feels in real life.
01 · Stone security
Claws frame a stone as much as they hold it.
Rounded claws feel soft and classic; eagle claws are fine and pointed; square claws feel crisp and geometric. Pear and marquise shapes need their vulnerable tips protected with particular care.
The final claw count, proportions and coverage are resolved around the individual stone in the approved CAD.
02 · Side profile
The basket shapes what only you may notice.
The head or gallery supports the centre stone and defines the silhouette from the side. A classic basket, tulip, trellis, cathedral, hidden halo or bezel each creates a different balance of openness, detail and protection.
03 · Everyday wear
Setting height is a choice about life, not just looks.
A low setting feels close to the hand and less exposed. A higher setting can create more presence and may allow a straight wedding band to sit closer. A medium profile often offers a considered middle ground.
1.6–1.8 mm
Light and centre-stone focused.
1.9–2.2 mm
A balanced starting range for many solitaires.
2.3 mm+
More visual weight and presence.
